For those not in Anchorage, and you’re looking to buy online, look for the Silver Hand! The Silver Hand Program enables consumers identify and purchase authentic Alaska Native Art.
The 2015 Alaska Federation of Natives Convention starts today! The AFN Convention is the largest annual gathering of any Native peoples, drawing up to 5,000 attendees a year. This year’s theme is “Heroes in our homeland.” Keynote speakers this year include Haida weaver Delores Churchill and her grandson, Haida master carver Donald Varnell. The event runs through Saturday, and is held at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage. Check out the promo video!
